alesis guitarFX pedal, any good?

I want to get a cheap, well, inexpensive multiFX pedal just to scrw around with, a friend has a zoom pedal, it blows big time, but it has a cool fade-in effect that sounds like a celo or violin, really cool, is it called slow attack?
i dunno, is the alesis any good and does it have the fadein?, or are the digitech pedals better?
