  • Anyone used the Spin-a-Split method to split humbucker?

I was looking through tech tips and saw this. Has anyone done this? How were your results? How do you remove the capacitor from the tone control?

I got good results from the spin-a-split wiring. I found that the larger value pot you use, the better the results. 250k allowed quite a bit of bleed through and 500k and up are best.

You do remove the tone cap.

Exactly, I even went with a 1meg pot.

        Robert -

Would a "no load" pot work best for this?

What about linear taper vs. audio taper?

It's slightly off-topic, but I'm asking because of the dial-a-tap I've got on a Quarter Pound. I started out with a 250k pot but there was only a small window between 3 & 5 where the output/sound changed. It's got a 100k pot in there now - someday that needs to get a "no load" mod.

        Thanks,

No load would be the best way to go or you could use a push pull pot to enable it.
