You know, I've noticed that anytime you want a nice thick neck on a Strat,
Les Paul, or any other, you can't have it till you pay Custom Shop prices.
Most of the info you gather from players leads you to believe that players want a nice comfy deep C neck, but they only offer those on high end guitars. My theory is that the majority of consumers, when buying a guitar,
want one that feels "faster." However, most longtime players insist on
thicker necks. What gives? Why is it so difficult to find a $600 guitar with
a nice chunky neck? Now, even most of the Custom Shop Fender 60's reissues have skinny necks. A few years ago, they felt a lot better.
I know it's personal preference, but I think these companies are dangling the carrot in front of our faces, then saying "pay more for the thick neck."
Even Schecter does it. All the Sunset Custom Schecters have beefy necks.
What do you guys think? Are there any midpriced guitars out there with
anything but a noodle neck?
