Re: Gibson Les Paul Vs. PRS McCarty
Interesting thread to me, as I am thinking about letting go of my Gibson '59 Historic, as I am just not bonding with the big neck.
While I would prefer selling it outright, I'm leaning towards picking up another guitar in trade...perhaps another Martin dread. But then I saw the new 594 double-cut, and that got me to thinking. Keep in mind...I have 60 guitars, so it's not like I need another. I've avoided PRS over the years, committing to Gibsons and G&Ls, but PRS builds beautiful guitars. When you find a special Gibson, they are just great. But PRS kinda has a rep and vibe like Taylor acoustics of being technologically advanced and superbly made...but without the tone, vibe and cachet of a Martin...or in the case of PRS...a Gibson.
I've got some research to do. I've liked the Miras (the PRS version of the SG) and the McCartys I've played, but the 594 really takes aim at the Les Paul. The one I briefly tested had binding, btw. Will be interesting.
