Yep, I turned 18 in 1990. Even though I was part of that generation I just didn’t identify with most of the music at that time.

In the nicest way I can think of, the 'rents were very conservative-oh nuts-Nazis, so I kind of got indoctrinated to 10 year old music ( except the Beatles of course-I wanna hear them some more like I want another burst). Sent off the girls' school, got Beck, Steely Dan, Tull, Mangione, lotsa cool stuff. And Natalie Cole, coz her brother was there. Anna bunch of plead the 5th stuff. Woulda graduated in '79. Got Genesis, Dead, I'd get a headache if I remembered all the good. Or bad. Making up for it now. With nobody around to tell me what to do!! Except Mincer, et al. ()
Now I feel SERIOUSLY old.
Old? Now I remember what I was gonna say: Mom wouldn't let me listen to "Dirty Work". She never heard the lyrics, so I don't know why???? It wasn't Chopin? (Where I was in piano lessons)

Considering what is passing for rock today, what I wouldn’t do for some 90’s rock again...

I think it's much better now. There is plenty of recent and less recent new bands out there making real hard rock and metal. And getting actual radio play as well: Hardcore Superstar, Battle Beast, Sabaton, Ghost, Avatar, Beast in Black, The Answer, Darkness... Just a quick list that came to my mind.

I’ve only heard Ghost on the radio. None of the others.
But I also think Europe is more open to new music...metal in particular. Not a lot of metal is played here in the US except on specialty radio programs that are dedicated to that.

I mostly agree...however it speaks to a larger movement that is happening in all of society.

Nobody gives a sh!t about the rules and everybody just does whatever they want with no reguard for anybody but themselves.
It happens here when people don’t follow the forum rules governing particular topics, it happens in traffic when nobody gives a sh!t that a red light means stop. Or their faces are buried in Facebook while driving even though the state has laws against handheld devices.
I could go on and on...
It’s all contributing to the worsening of society and I don’t see it getting better any time soon.

That's not a rant! BUT, why do I get in trouble with the mere mention of "social"? I think Morello and Springsteen are kind of compas (compadres for those from RI) when it comes to their belief systems. You have a harvard grad and a dropout beach bum. Neither is smart, although both well read. Before I get in DblTrbl, I have 2 words. Income disparity.

And I'm sorry I goofed. I didn't mean neither is smart, I meant neither is smarter-a harvard grad or a beach bum. Sorry about that. Glad I sometimes reread.
I listen to these guys on reputable (it's still mass media) documentaries and read biographies. Don't have the retention ya'll do.
Speaking of cool tricks (shorting out the pickup or whatever he did), anybody see Nils Lofren do a backflip while playing? THAT is a cool trick.

Well, I did say it myself I haven't listened them that much... Only going by what I've heard from them.

What does it matter if they "kept rock music relevant" if they also changed it to something way different?

I haven't listened much either, but I'm thinking Dylan. And it is pysically impossible for me to be a numbnuts.

Yes, Disturbed get a little radio time but since they haven’t put out any material lately they are sort of off the radar.
Most radio in the US focuses on classic rock, pop or oldies. [emoji53]
The local Rock station has a weekly show dedicated to metal but it comes on later at night and only for a couple of hours.

Bruce is definitely the taskmaster. He expects from everyone else what he expects from himself; that's why he has the tightest band. Did you ever see Nils do a backflip playing? I can find the vid. Hurt my head. The effects IS what blows me away w/Morello. I mean, it's "money from nothin". You know who else does that chit only differently is Uli Jon Roth. I am just discovering all these guys, and I don't know if I'm inspired, or if I should just ditch it !!!

Bruce should expect more from himself these days. Saw him a few years ago and his voice was horrible. I would have been embarrased to mail in such a horrible performance as that if I were him.
