Charvel's description of the new Satchel (Steel Panther) signature models reads: "Russ Satchel Parris from Steel Panther was one of the iconic 80's shredders who ruled the Sunset Strip in its metal hayday". Just saw this in Musicians Friend catalog and thought it was funny. (Steel Panther began in 2000, for those of you who weren't there for the 80's)

Re: Charvel out of touch with their own endorsees?
Maybe they are just fans of revisionist history? Like how people think there was a civil war in our country about 150 years ago.You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

That is surprising they cant even get his name right....its Russ Parrish. He played in the metal band "Fight" in the 90s with Rob Halford. Thats where he got his professional start.Charvel, Kramer, Gibson, Fender, MIJ/US Epiphone, BC Rich

Re: Charvel out of touch with their own endorsees?
From experience, most companies don't have a very close relationship with their endorsees unless they are actively designing a product with them. It could be 1 year before that product makes it to market, so lots can change, too- like by that time, the artist isn't in the band they were in, or they moved on to other gear. But most of the time, artists never hear from those companies and the reverse is true, too.Administrator of the SDUGF

^That is *really* cool.
Anyway- I don't think you can guess a company's relationship with endorsees based on a blurb on a webpage. I don't think Charvel/Fender has direct control of what Musician's Friend prints as copy in their advertisement either.Originally posted by King BuzzoI love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!
