  • Charvel out of touch with their own endorsees?

Charvel's description of the new Satchel (Steel Panther) signature models reads: "Russ Satchel Parris from Steel Panther was one of the iconic 80's shredders who ruled the Sunset Strip in its metal hayday". Just saw this in Musicians Friend catalog and thought it was funny. (Steel Panther began in 2000, for those of you who weren't there for the 80's)

Maybe they are just fans of revisionist history? Like how people think there was a civil war in our country about 150 years ago.
You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright

That is surprising they cant even get his name right....its Russ Parrish. He played in the metal band "Fight" in the 90s with Rob Halford. Thats where he got his professional start.

Some would say Charvel is out of touch with Charvel

From experience, most companies don't have a very close relationship with their endorsees unless they are actively designing a product with them. It could be 1 year before that product makes it to market, so lots can change, too- like by that time, the artist isn't in the band they were in, or they moved on to other gear. But most of the time, artists never hear from those companies and the reverse is true, too.

Speaking of Charvel. I stumbled across this CX model over the weekend. It has Lace sensors in it. What a sleeper! Really like how this git feels and sounds.

                    ^That is *really* cool.

Anyway- I don't think you can guess a company's relationship with endorsees based on a blurb on a webpage. I don't think Charvel/Fender has direct control of what Musician's Friend prints as copy in their advertisement either.

I think the Satchel guitar looks pretty cool...looks similar to one of George Lynch's guitars.

My band website says copyright 1985-2018

                          It's a joke.

Charvel hasn't been in touch since like 1986 -but it's Steel Panther and they nailed that one! Nice joke.

Didn't he play in any bands while attending GIT in the 80s? A stretch but fits within what they said in the ad.
