  • In the Midst of Designing a New Guitar Build......

I ended up buying this one. I bought a Wilkinson bridge assembly and a set of pickups. I had in mind, to build a 69 Thinline Telecaster; then I saw the one below. No build for me, but I might remove the pickups and bridge and replace them with the bridge and pickups I bought.

I was expecting a BC Rich Warlock.

Sounds way too warm to be a Tele bridge pup. Really great tone, however. I love it.

I'm sure you can do some magic with it, Butch.

The Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups are a little warmer and thicker-sounding than most Tele pickups that are vintage-wound (<9k). They do sound like true Tele pickups to me; but Teles are all I own and play.

Received yesterday. New strings and a little setup and we’re good to go. Ordered strap locks and chrome switch tip. This one has the same pickups as my Deluxe Nashville; however, this guitar, due to being semi hollow body, is a little brighter. I’ll post a video today and you can see and hear it.

Great choice! I like the angled switches on the Thinlines better than the straight Tele switch.

So, after a few days with it, I have found it is fairly bright; not icepick bright, but kind of glassy bright, in a decent way. I have three Telecasters:

                            1. 2006 Desert Sand Baja with APTL-3JD/APS-1 pickup combo
                            2. 2019 Deluxe Nashville with Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups
                            3. 2016 Deluxe Thinline with Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups

The Baja has my favorite tone of all of them. The Deluxe Nashville sounds great but has a thinker, warmer tone that the other two. The Thinline's brightness, I attribute to it being semi-hollowbody and alder. The 69 RI Thinlines were mahogany and warmer. I just bought a set of Alnico 2 Pro Tele pickups; neck and bridge. I might replace the Vintage Noiseless pickups and pots in the Thinline. Pots are 1Meg. Many see if I can warm it up a little. For now, I'll leave it.

I would think the Alnico IIs would tame some of the highs nicely. If you go ahead with the swap, let us know how it turns out.
