  • Getting the aged effect of Fishman's Will Adler PUs

    Hi guy
I got my hands on a used set of Fishman Will Adler pickups.

Now I want to put them in a Les Paul copy I got (black with gold hardware).

The only question I have is:

How do I get this "wiped away finish" effect of the PUs on the knobs and the bridge?

I thought about scotch brite, but it might be to abrasive and scratch the surface too much.

Maybe just wiping it down for hours with a microfiber cloth until it fades?

There are different grades of scotchbrite from coarse to very fine. First you use the more coarse one, until the effect is nearly done, the finish it with the finer ones.
For that job i have a huge selection of different materials including 3 grades of steelwool, fibers and sponges.

Workout and get your hands really sweaty, and then work your gold knobs and wipe as much sweat as you can all over them.

If your sweat is acidic enough you won't need no Scotchbrite!
