  • Soldering Question

I know this has been asked many times, my memory ain't so good...

For soldering pickups and such what is a good wattage for an iron? Also, does the type of sloder affect the overall tone? What is the best type?

Thanks for any and all replies.

    Re: Soldering Question

A 30-40 watt iron is what you need, not a gun. Too low a wattage and you have to leave the iron on the pot or switch too long to heat it up, and risk frying the component. Too hot like a gun, and you risk frying the component also.

As for the solder, just the thinest rosin core solder is fine. It really won't have any tonal effect.
