  • volume pedal's pots.

    Hi every body.
Most of my guitars are loaded with 500k pots (humbakers installed).
Recently I got BESPECO volume pedal which I connected after the guitar (pre effects).
The overall sound went muddy and pretty bright less.
After a quick check I have noticed that the potentiometer of the volume pedal is wwwwaaaayyy far from 500k.
    My questions are:
    1. Let say I connect a 500k volume pedal, will it not change the over all sound again, making it much brighter and less bottom end?
    2. Wouldn't it be like a 1M pot (500k+500k=1M)
    3. Is there a suitable replacement for that potentiometer (500K ?), as it goes 0-100% in half turn (something like that)?
    4. What will happened to my strat sound (single pups) if I'll switch to 500K pot volume pedal?

    Thanks guys.

    Re: volume pedal's pots.

I'm guessing that a volume pedal would connect in parallel.
    So (500k x 500k) / (500k + 500k) = 250k

That would explain why your sound would be suppressed. If you use a 1 Meg pot in the volume control, you'll end up with approx. 333.333k

Your total resistance will always be slightly less than the smallest resistor.
