  • geting a new distortion sound by replacing the valv, posible ?

I currently own a Marshall VS102R which is the 2nd generation of the valvestate.
I got it new and its something like 4 years old, I don’t play it much but I would love to have a new distortion sound out of it more like a rectifier type , fat and crunchy.
Will I get that if I replace the valve ? Which valve will do the trick ?

I doubt it. Most valvestates have only 1 tube in them and it's normally
a ECC83 (12ax7) witch is 100% gain on the gain chart. You could in
theory put a 12au7 or a lower gain tube like that and tame it down
or get different tones. But not a more distorted sound.
