If you ask me, and remember I'm only about 2-3 years older than you, you've got a LOT of options. But how long have you been playing guitar for? Cuz if you are paying for the amp yourself, by the time you get the money its probably likely that your ear might change a little.

for that amount of mney you could even start a (if you wnat to) rack system. like a mesa boogie v twin rackmount, and one of their power amps. i think it wqould end up being less than the amount of money your looking for?

Id go for a dsl 50 or if your inclined 100. either wya u cant go wrong, even a tsl would be abetter choice than a mode four. SS amps dont comprae well to Tube amps. Even if it a goodf amp for it being SS youll be happier with a tube amp. Try a mesa boogie rectofier that might be what your looking for.

mesa replaced it with the v twin preamp pedal, before that came out there was the rackmountable version.

You can get a triple rectifier for a lot less than the MF

                        That's not accurate at all.

                        Boogie TR Head = $1,599.99

                        Marshall MF Stack = $1,999.99
                        Boogie TR Stack = $2,399.98

Good point. I forgot to take into consideration that the Marshall cost so much more than it really does, meaning the Mesa would, too. I was comparing a regularly priced Mesa to his outrageously high priced Marshall. Sorry about the terrible info. I try not to do that too often, and I apologize. Thanks for picking that one up.
