  • What is the difference in tubes and speakers?

I'm getting a Hot Rod Deville 212 soon. I don't know what kind of tubes they come with, or what kind of speakers, but I'm just curious what the tone differences are between, say, 6L6 or EL34 tubes? Also, what difference in tone do different speakers give?

The HRD series come with cheezy Fender speakers. JBL d120f and Jensen c12n are great for the HRD voice. Speakers will make a much larger difference in sound than tubes.

A popular tube combo for that amp is Svetlana 6L6s and EH 12ax7s.

That amp will not sound like a Marshall or Boogie. I think that's where people get dissapointed, where they want it to sound completely different. Those amps have a great warm clean tone and somewhat decent distortion.

I've always loved JBLs in a Fender. The old K series is my favorite, the cleans are to die for, and while they don't add distortion, they reproduce it beautifully.
