I owned a 1960 Strat from 1973 to 1990, and after some experimenting with that guitar, I left it on. I keep it on. My current guitars have the G&L Dual Fulcrum Vibrato.

I always figured that the less lint, dust and dirt back there, the better.

When you've had budget guitars for a number of years, you may find that your old instrument is holding you back. A quality guitar can inspire you to write great songs, improve your understanding of the Gdim chord while in the Lydian Mode, cure the heartbreak of cystic acne--and help you find true love in the process.

I just got an LTD M-1000, and promptly removed the cover, leaving it off after I put my strings (10-52) on it, intending to toss it into the parts bin. However, I was just showing my 18 year old some Pantera videos, and noticed Dime’s cover is in place.

So... on or off? What say ye?
Which M1000 did you get? Mine has slotted rear plate that you can adjust without taking it off.

It’s an older one, 2008 I think, but the cover is solid.

I stuck a piece of foam under the springs and put the cover back on earlier this evening. Trying to branch out a little and try something new

That’s annoying on the vintage style ones where you have to press on the bar to align the block holes with the cover holes. Probably the original reason I removed mine.
