  • Where do you buy your new guitars online at?

For me it's Sweetwater and American Musical Supply. Sweetwater is awesome to me because you can pick the specific guitar you want and their 55 point evaluation is cool. AMS for their payment plans. Once you hit Rock Star Status, it's even better. Never had any problems with either of them.

    Anywhere but Sweetwater.

The most popular thread I've ever made was 1) a joke and 2) based around literally the most inane/mundane question I could think of. That says something about me, or all of you, or both.

        Last couple were Reverb.

        Best experience was Elderly.

Have bought from The Music Zoo, Musicians Friend, Sweetwater, and eBay but from only specific people I trust. Haven’t had any rip off experiences. Had a couple situations requiring returns but got resolved smooth enough.

One at Thomann, another at gear4music. Great experience in both cases

Musicians Friend, reverb, even eBay sometimes.
I've had great luck at all 3.
(you better know what you're doing with eBay or you will definitely get burned)

I use sweetwater for school equipment exclusively, (I teach an audio recording/music production class) because they accept school Purchase Orders and other places won't.

Only one time did I ever get a broken guitar, and MF made it right in 5 days.

Last one was Reverb, and the one before that was from Eastman directly.

I've never bought a new guitar online. A couple used, all good experiences. If I was to buy a new guitar online it would be from Sweetwater, no doubt about it. When they have more than one of the same in stock, you can view by serial number and pick the one you want based on everything you see, even the weight, plus their inspection process and followup on everything.

Reverb, Forums, Stores, Wherever I can find what I am after.
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Musician's Friend, I find they have the best pricing on Les Pauls

the last "big ticket" guitar i bought was available at all the major online places...i just looked at the coupons that were out there and the financing that was being offered and got in touch with gc, sweetwater and MF just to see who could make me the best deal. MF won that time, but i would've gone through any of them.
Quality riffs in about a minute...

Just thinking this through.... I think I have owned 21 instruments in my life. I have bought 4 new.
                        1. My first guitar ever, an Ibanez RX40 from a local mom and pop
                        2. Squier Jazz Bass from Guitar Center (that punched so far above its weight at the $179 sale price it wasn’t funny)
                        3. My nicest guitar and only acoustic, the Martin from Guitsr Center. I played probably 60 different guitars at 6 different stores and this one was The One.
                        4. A Les Paul Junior from AMS on clearance, I sold it because the 2015 specs were not for me.

Every other guitar had been used.

EDIT - that’s not true, I also have a cheapie Squier Strat that was on clearance at Musicians Friend because it was an off the wall sparkle color. I need to either go to town modding it or make a beginner’s day.
                        Oh no.....

                        Oh Yeah!

I've bought from MF, AMS, Sweetwater, and Pro Audio Star. I didn't have any issues with the instruments themselves, but Pro Audio was would be my lowest ranked because it took forever for them to ship it. Sweetwater is my preferred online retailer, I like their customer service, my sales rep is really good, and since their only 2hrs down US30 from me I get it the next day, even with the free ground shipping, as long as I order before 2PM
                          sigpic
Gibson LP Trad Pro II->Various pedals->MEsa Boogie MkV->Owensby/219 Guitar Works Vertical Slant 2x12 w/WGS ET-65 and Veteran 30.

Sweetwater's customer service and your personal own sales rep are really good helping you find what you're looking for. I can't think of another company who gives you a phone call after purchasing from them saying thank you. I still get the occasional email from my sales rep after a Gibson I bought 5 years ago. Pretty cool.
