  • NOG - '81 Iceman IC-50

    New Old Guitar!
Got this from an old friend of mine a little over a week ago. Needed a deep cleaning, a little attention to detail and a bit of re-wiring to get it up to speed but it is in excellent, all original condition, even has it's original case. My friend Paul had owned it since new, we both had these (mine was Regal Blue) when we were in school and we'd get together and jam every now and then. He doesn't play anymore and he wanted it to have a good home so it ended up in my care, I'll make sure it gets plenty of use

I have a '79 as well, not quite so original or clean but still a pretty great guitar

Looks like cheap tuners though, judging by the knobs. Otherwise very cool.

Recommend replacing if they're the trapezoids they look to be

V4's were from the late 80's. Love an Iceman. Wish I had one....

No these are Ibanez VelveTune's, not a cheapo tuner at all

They were in the 70's, they switched to Ceramic right around 1980.

Not normally a fan of lower output and Ceramic mags but these sound pretty good so far. The '79 has an early 80's Super D in the bridge and a '59 neck with an A8 mag. When I had my original '80 IC50 I had pulled the stock pickups out and put in L500's, more because of Joe Perry worship than anything else I am sure

                  Nice!
The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Iceman's are cool. Even though they have a somewhat radical body shape, they still sit nicely in your lap if you just want to sit and play at home.

And a rarity, supposedly there were only 500 made, but that hasnt been confirmed. Honestly its my fave of my three guitars. Designed for the Japanese market as a test run before they started reissuing them in 95 in conjunction with the Paul Stanley models
