  • Help me choose what pickups will go in what guitar.

Hi folks. So I play anything from classic rock to classic and more modern slightly dropped tune metal. I think I've got a couple of swaps down and I have all the pickups already. I have an Agile Hawker Custom with a Jazz neck and Brobucker bridge. Lo and behold, I found the first guitar that the Brobucker doesn't sound ungodly in. It sounds very good for chords, runs, etc, but solos sound lifeless. Yes, probably me, lol, but none of my other guitars sound that way. I'm gonna put my C8 in that one. Now here's my conundrum...

Three pickups are Dimarzio Super Distortion, A2P and Brobucker. Three guitars are Chibson SG that the Brobucker used to be in and sounded amazing, Epi 60's Tribute Les Paul, and I'll be getting a Mahogany Chinese Tele with a humbucker bridge. I'm thinking Super Distortion in Tele, A2P in SG, Brobucker in Les Paul.

Amp used 99% of the time is a Bad Cat Couger 50. Decent cleans, great crunch/distortion IMO. Opinions? On the pickups, lol.
    My songs....enjoy! (hopefully )

Oh! I forgot that I have a Duncan Designed HB-112. I forget what guitar I had it in at one time and thought it was okay, but not as great as I had read. Could have just been the guitar, but I really wonder what this would sound like with an A8 mag?

BroB sounded good in SG, back it goes.
          A2P in the LP
SuperD in the Tele of questionable origins - because loud > Tone, not that we assume said Tele has any...

As for the HB 112; You need another guitar. If a decent axe shows up, SuperD in there and 112 in the Tele. If a crap beater, 112 in there.

I agree widely but the HB 112 would be nice in the Tele for more traditional sounds like Aceman says.
I get the feeling the A8 will blow your skirt up more so - Edgecrusher

Aceman! Hamerfan! Long time no speak! Thanks for the suggestions. I did slap an A8 in the HB112 and was going to put that in the SG for now just to hear it again but in the end, I think I will do the BB in the SG, A2P, which Ive never used in a guitar even though I've had it over ten years in the Les Paul, and SDH in the "questionable", lol, Tele. And since I've got the bug again, I can always swap again, but I do think this will be an outstanding setup. Thank you to EVERYONE for being so kind and making awesome suggestions.

HB-112 went in the Chibson SG. It sounds incredible. It's like it was made for an A8 mag. Used it tonight with a Peavey Valveking 1st edition through a Marshall 2X12 loaded with early 90s non-scooped T75s. I think I can say the sound I'd compare it to closely resembled the guitar in Black Sabbath's The Mob Rules. Very full, heavy but not muddy bass, great mids and highs that sing but aren't overbearing.
