  • First Guitar Project/Assembly

I found a guy online that makes bodies for a reasonable price, and has good reviews as well. I found another guy that does a faux snakeskin covering on guitar bodies. I ordered a two humbucker hardtail San Dimas style body. I put in an order with Warmoth for a reverse headstock Strat neck around the same time. The neck has arrived here, and the body has arrived at the snakeskin guy's place. I also ordered all gold hardware, and it has arrived as well. The guy is getting everything laid out and prepped up to do the covering on the body this week. I bought some no hole gold pickup covers, but I've decided to just go with black pickups and let all the other hardware be gold. I've also got a Pasadena '78 pickup set and a Poundcake pickup set on order from Planet Tone. I don't know how they'll pan out, but we'll see.

Build threads like this are great. Like tuning into a TV show for new episodes.

Cool. Can't wait to see how this pans out.

What happened to the Iceman bodies you had dyed/painted?

Too much work....lol. Nah, I originally did them with Tru oil, and that turned out to be a pain in the ass. I sanded all of that off and started trying to do them in lacquer, but I didn't really know what I was doing nor did I really have a place to do it correctly. I still have the blue one. I think I got drunk and stepped on the purple one and broke it.

Wow, that looks better than I imagined from the description. I've seen some Princeton Reverbs covered in similar material. Looking forward to more pics of the progress!
