    I repaired many things with JB Weld -mostly Auto and Motorcycle related -but to be on topic, I did repair an Ovation guitar that's body was smashed with JB Weld and shaped the cured JB Weld with steel wool and a Dremel before painting.

    It was probably the greatest guitar repair ever made, sometimes children gather around campfires and sing songs about the day I repaired that Ovation.

          I've used Bondo to make tools - especially clamping cauls for odd shapes. Plastic wood is for carpenters - not luthiers. No self-respecting luthier would use it. You fill a hole in the wood with more wood, and then drill or otherwise machine to proper size and location.
          Bondo is for shade tree mechanics and plastic wood is for housewives and hobby builders.

          Every good carpenter, millwright or cabinet maker will use wood also.

            Operative word: good.
            I've seen way too much wood putty used on nail holes and poor detail routing on cabinetry and furniture.
