I've been drooling over these since I first laid my peepers on them!

This past weekend, my other guitardist finished paying me for my LPJ. So I had money burning a hole in my pocket.

Ended up at the music store in Prescott today just goofing around and saw this. I had to add 4 bills on top of the 1k I had in my pocket, but .... I'm happy with it!

As I understand it, Gibson makes like 500 or so of these one time every 10 years or something like that. This one is a brand new 2018 model. Hasn't been molested at all.

It's very First molestation was captured by my phone today...

All the BFGs I've seen had a P90 in neck position, with pickup switch by the knobs and a killswitch up on the shoulder.
Was this one modded to put a humbucker there? Or is it a newer series, with the design tweaked?

I know some don't like Gibson's noiseless P90, the P100. And many objected to having the killswitch up there.
Makes sense that they might've changed the model; I just haven't seen any others like yours.

Cool axe. I know I could "google" it, but remind me what BFG stands for. Also, what is the "soldering iron in the side of the knob" do? Just curious.

Here's what I've learned so far:
The original Gibson Les Paul BFG and the BFG Limited Edition variants, were only made in 2007 and 2008.

The Gibson Les Paul BFG Gator model, and the BFG Tremolo models, and Gary Moore models, were made in 2011 and 2012.

It was reintroduced in 18 with an option for 2 P90s or 2 Humbuckers.

The Barely Finished Guitar is what most people call it, but those in the know...
Stolen from MyLesPaul.com:
A couple of weeks ago Don (here on the forum) emailed Gibson to ask about what BFG stood for and here is the reply:

Hello,

Thanks for writing!! The proper meaning is Bad F Guitar.

Best regards,
