Mine originally had the Kahler Spyder trem and was Profesionally dowelled for OFR with an OFR nut decades before i got it.
Ive had mine since late 90's got it from the old Daddys Junkie Music in the NE from Hersch.
No pics just took a chance and called Hersch got the description.
Basswood body like Vai's Green Meanie. There is something very special about the top end sound very detailed, focused & full thick sounding.
      Indian rosewood slab.
I put an all steel Schaller Tremiester w/ big brass block and a late 90's EMG-81 that sound very different than Chinese made EMG's as the older EMG's had an op amp thats no longer available.
Ive never had trouble with this guitar its very forgiving plays / looks / sounds great.
Something very special about the early Japan Charvels.

I do not know of any EMGs being made in China, apart from the actual knockoffs. Have they really moved some of their production there?

Must've missed a beat then... I mean,.. I am aware that everybody and their mother has their product made in China, but for some reason I always thought that EMG's only production plant is in Santa Rosa. Perhaps based on the fact that each one I had only said Made in USA and nothing else. Times are a-changing then, I guess...

The black hardware/pickguard works with the grape purple.

                      Old Mopar colors.
