That's sweet. These new Epiphones are an incredible value. I've picked up a few myself and different shops. Each one felt and played great off the wall. The Probuckers sound really nice. Easily one of the biggest improvements. If you're gonna swap, toss in the '57 Classics first. I certainly would.

No need to hide it. I have plenty of non-Epiphones, but when I take my 3 Les Pauls out for a show they are 2 Epiphones and an Edwards. They play and sound fine. Nobody notices the difference.I miss the 80's (girls) !!!

CTS pots, yes, good.. Cheap poly-whatever caps, yes, no big deal unless you're addicted to snake oil. Switch, well, not a genuine switchcraft.
Pickups are 2-wire and all the wiring is connected by push connectors. I guess if / when I put new pickups in, I can just pull the entire harness, put it in a drawer, and fit a new one with push-pulls for the coil splits, a proper Switchcraft switch, etc. Heck, I might even use some big old orange drops.
Now. Pickups. Classic sort of Thin Lizzy tone (think Jailbreak era). Thinking Whole Lotta Humbucker or my Gibson 57 Classics that I pulled from my SG. Suggestions please.Administrator of the SDUGF

Fitted them this morning with 500k pots, a genuine switchcraft short toggle switch, 22 uF El Cheapo tone caps and a Pure Tone double contact output jack (which I fit to all my guitars just because). Cloth cobered wiring throughout, of course.
I put those big plastic CTS push-pulls in so I can coil split either or both pickups.
Haven't had much time playing yet, but they sure as Sherlock are a lot louder than the Burstbucker 2s the thing came with.
I like 'em.
Observations : the poker chip is glued (or at least stuck) to the front of the guitar and the hole needed opening out a tad for the Switchcraft switch; the output jack plate also needed opening out a little, principally because the stock output jack has anti-rotation flats in it.Last edited by ThreeChordWonder; 04-21-2022, 11:36 AM.
