I noticed that the string spacing on the VS-100 is quite wide.
Has anyone had any problems with fretting out on the upper frets, towards the heel, on a guitar with a standard strat sized neck heel and a VS-100 bridge?
I have a replacement job that has been on the long finger for years due to the amount of work / accessibility of an adequate workspace to use.
The existing trem needs to be replaced as the base is actually curved i.e. it's not resting flat on the body of the guitar as it should be, and I think it most likely came from the factory like that. It's not a standard sized trem nor route. It would need the posts moved and a bit of routing. In fact the string spacing is a bit narrower than a normal strat.
Looking at the string spacing on the VS-100 though it looks entirely possible that both E strings would be dangerously close to the edge of the fretboard.
If that's likely I may just look for an alternative way to deal with the problem.
Currently it's setup as a floating hardtail - I basically don't use the bar - which is how it holds tune best. If I deck it and support my wrist on it it will go out of tune and I rarely break a string and for some odd reason it seems to support leaning my wrist on it better than when decked. (Or maybe unconsciously I don't lean on it as hard, but I don't think that's the case.)
The guitar has a standard neck heel so nothing out of the ordinary in that respect.
Just curious if anyone has run into problems.
