  • Have you built a Tribute guitar?

Have you built a Tribute guitar? One made to replicate a guitar played by your favorite artist?

It’s amazing I’ve never done a Gilmour Black or Red Strat, but This EVH itch is continuing. I half want to build a 78 Frankie or 5150. We’ll see if this get legs or if it’s another passing fad. I’m definitely itching to build something either way once I get settled into my new house.
    Oh no.....

    Oh Yeah!

I helped longcat build this Billy Corgan 'Bat Strat' tribute for her birthday 10 years ago and she took this pic shortly after. I know it should technically be silver over sunburst, but the specs are right otherwise and it sounds how you'd expect. It absolutely slays through my Dream Box.
    • MIM Classic 50s Strat neck, recently refretted with Jescar 43080-S & leveled with compound radius on upper frets.
    • MIM Standard Strat body; refinished in metallic blue
    • Red / Sliver / Blue Lace Sensors
    • 250K pots - master volume, master tone w/ .022 cap, & Fralin blender

Which is why many people play electric guitars but very very few of them are actually musicians.

I have thought about building a Iommi Old Boy tribute, still might.

I pretty much built the Coffin Lid. I suppose that it could be considered a tribute. It's the one on the right.

No tributes, but three of mine are substitutes for guitars I had years ago: a '68 Firebird that I couldn't get to sound good in the days before amps had master volume controls, a '74 Les Paul Custom '56 reissue that got stolen, and an ivory '76 LP Custom that I sold when trying to keep my business afloat in the 90s.

The only place I have found the husk is Straophere and they want a king's ransom for a P90 SG husk.

My SG Junior started as a replacement for the SG Junior I had in the early 90’s. When I decided to paint it white, it became a Jake E. Lee tribute of sorts. There’s modern appointments on it but the vibe is all there.
