  • Best headless guitars 2022

There is a lot to like in this article but the Ibanez QX527PB-ABS really speaks to me

Intrigued at the prospect of losing your head? Here’s our pick of headless guitars from Ibanez, Strandberg, Traveler, Steinberger, Legator and more

I was looking at the Ibanez Qs the other day - interesting solution regarding the tilted frets!

I would like more 22 fret variations in headless designs. I know Kiesel offers them, but not many other companies.

The tilted frets on the Ibanez echo some old Rickenbackers, which also had them (8˚ tilt too). Think we talked about them here around the time the Q was released.

Not on their list, but if money were no object, I wouldn't mind an Aristides H/07.

That is beyond pretty. Can I get a Les Paul with that finish?

Yeah, we need more guitars with non-traditional, but spectacular finishes!

I am all in on anything that contains both purple and hot pink.

Yeah, Aristides do some nice colours which are outside of the usual stuff.

Same paint but different angle, so you can see more of the orange and pink. Love it.

This rose gold flip flop H/07 is pretty neat too.

They are about my favorite designs in headless instruments these days. Much nicer than Kiesels, and they don't have the weird necks that Strandbergs do.

I like the look of strandbergs, but the neck looks so strange that I wasn't sure if they would be any good to play.

Really like the look of that Ibanez, been my weirdest GAS case since I started playing guitar. Never understood the appeal of headless guitars, but since I will be moving to a place where I won't be driving any time soon, this one, and a small, capable modeller look like a perfect solution when using public transportation to go to and from rehearsals.

If you play with the thumb behind the neck it feels surprisingly natural.

Yes, you have to play a very specific way for it to work. If you vary that in any way, it is uncomfortable.

It’s the proper way, Mincer, go back to practice for a few hours. Lol
