They usually play real well but the bodies are a little off and it throws me. I do really like the higher end PE models though, killer guitars.

The higher end models do seem well appointed. For under 1k it seems like a no brainer.

I'm more of a (super)strat guy and those are often less $ than an Ibanez from the same era with similar specs.

I see a lot of Les Paul's Scott. I think you need a few more 59's!

If I needed a #1 guitar, for under $1k I'd buy that in a heartbeat and never give it a second thought.

So a few mod/tweaks were in order with at least 2 more to come

The Super D's are just not for this guitar, well at least not while I own it

I hit up Wilde Pickups and got an L90L 6.0 for the bridge position ala the vintage Aero guitars. I was obsessed with Bill Lawrence pickups when I was a kid, wish I kept some of those old ones, so this is a nice throwback for me too. I also swapped the volume pot for an SD 500k version, such a nice difference in usability. I actually ended up putting the bridge Super D in the neck and packing away the pristine neck pickup with the original DiMarzio label on the front, that was too cool too ruin.

I am pretty sure I'll put a 2.0 version of the L90 in the neck position and I am going to change to a bridge that I can get a little wider string spacing on.

Such a cool guitar and some Lawrence love is icing on the vintage cake!
