  • Speaker ohms. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an 80 watt 2x12. Manual says cabinet impedance is 4 ohms and minimum impedance is 2 ohms. If I replace 1 or both speakers, what ohm speaker do I need? Thanks. By the way, I can't find it on the existing speakers.

You probably have 2 8-ohm speakers in parallel now. You could put 2 4-ohm speakers in parallel to get 2 ohms if you wanted, but you are probably ok as-is. The term "minimum" is deceiving when it comes to speaker impedance. 4 ohms is less load than 2 ohms. Resistance is inverse to current.

Thanks, Stevo. They are 8 ohm. What would be the result if I put in 2-16 ohm speakers?

        You'd get a 8ohm cab (parallel).

Or 32ohm (series), but I doubt you want that.
