Hi everyone -
I've currently got a bunch of cash on hand from graduating, and I'm thinking about getting a new amp. I play a reasonably wide range of styles, but focus mostly on Metallica, Tool, A Perfect Circle, and to a lesser extent, Zeppelin and Rush type tones. My main guitar is an SG loaded with '59 and C5. I've played on some Marshalls (DSL401, TSL602) - I didn't at all like the TSL, and, though I liked the DSL some, I don't really think it's what I'm after. I've played only played a Rectoverb briefly, but it seemed like it would be closer to what I'm wanting than either Marshall. The only other things I've really tried have been 2 Line 6's (Vetta HD, HD147), both of which I thought sounded pretty good, and certainly had a lot of options.
What do you think would be good for me? I have up to about $1200, but would kind of like to stay under that. It doesn't have to be tube, but can be, and if it is, I'd like to keep the power level to some kind of sane level (50 watt or less).
Thanks for your help
