The finger board radius is flatter, too, which is great for things like two handed tapping. and really wide vibrato. The original Charvel neck is 22 frets, tho. I would go with the Charvel if faced with a choice between the two.
yeah, even on the new charvel models thy have nice smooth finishes. i bet the old ones are even better

That's the evil monkey from Family Guy. I used to have a larger picture of just his face in my avatar.

Thanks for your opinion, everybody. Any other thoughts?

The Charvels are killer guitars.. They have really good necks, good frets which are playable and big.. etc.. if you like big frets and the size of the charvel neck.. Some don't.. The Duncans of course help a lot too!

Now, the Fender that I really like is the Mexican Hardware / Floyd Rose Equipped US Wood "Fender Highway 1, " that has a hum and two single coils.. I like it because it has the same big frets and the bigger neck is great really.. I don't have a problem with it either, but you might.. I don't think you can go wrong with either guitar to be honest. If you get the Fender, you're almost going to have to get the US fender to match the Jap version of the Charvel in quality in my humble opinion because the quality is so good on the Charvel..
        Just my two cents..
        Tim..

The necks on these guitars are so different that as soon as you sit down to play them, one of them will be out of the question. The Charvel neck is much flatter and the Fender neck is much chunkier and if you like one, it's likely that you won't like the other, and any talk of pickups, hardware, etc. will be irrelevant. I'd go for the Fender, but that's what I'm used to, and I don't like the Charvel necks. They're both good guitars.

I do and I'll never sell it unlike the many Fenders I've had.

Which is why many people play electric guitars but very very few of them are actually musicians.
