Hey guys.. Anyone want to help me figure out which guitar you'd buy? Just cuirous.. Here are the specs.. I think I could get both guitars at about the same price, so price not being calculated in the equation, which guitar seems at least better to you folks?

Robin definitely. It's more unique, and the Gibson is lower-level Gibson, and I've definitely been disappointed in their quality control in the past, where the Robin is a top of the line Robin.

i'd go robin too. sounds like a much higher quality guitar, just without the "gibson" name!

I'd think one would want the Solid top, but to be honest I don't know the difference.. I do know that my fav guitarist of all time is Ted Nugent of course who used lot's of Gibson Semi Hollow body Jazz boxes.. and he could milk notes out of that puppy! hehe

also check out older Gibson Howard Roberts Fusions, either from the early 90s or from the early 80s (different design back then)...some great deals to be found.

I'd skip both of them and go straight for a Heritage 535 and get that classic double cutaway 335 look and that AWESOME Sound that will smoke the 137 and the Robin.

also check out older Gibson Howard Roberts Fusions, either from the early 90s or from the early 80s (different design back then)...some great deals to be found.

My girlfriend's uncle let me play his original HRF Gibson and it is an UNBELIEVABLE guitar for jazz fusion. It really sounds great and it looks and feels great. I didn't think that I'd ever be blown away by a Gibson like that, but I was.

I believe all semi-hollows and hollows need to use laminates and cannot use solids on the body because of the shaping that's required (except for the center block). You can bend a laminate but cannot bend solid wood. I just bought a Gibson ES-137 Classic in blueburst and it's a great guitar. I know nothing of the Robin.
