Re: Should I go with Line 6?

One more thing, I remember EdgeCrusher sold his 5150 (he was a HUGE 5150 fan too) for a HD147 before the new forum design went up. He seemed to like it a lot more than the 5150 and posted some really sweet clips.

After buying alot of sub-par gear over the years, my advice is to save a little longer and then get what you really want, the Line 6 HD147. Don't just get what you can afford today.

I just sold my HD 147 for the Vetta II HD. I just wanted more! Plus the 147 is more geared to high gain playing, even though the cleans are pristene. I just needed the versatility for different styles as called for.

I just bought a Line 6 HD147 and FBV flooboard to use with my Mesa Recto 4x12. I'm now going to sell my Mesa Rectoverb 50 head, Orange AD30H head (customized with a true bypass effects loop and blend pot), and brand new Boss ME-50.

While the tones of the Line 6 aren't exactly like a tube amp, they are cool and the huge variety of sounds, effects, ability to use headphones, download patches, and everything else it does makes it more in line with what I do. I might switch back to tubes later on - who knows. But for now I'm going with Line 6.

This is great. I can't believe what I am seeing; not a single person bagging on modeling. I'm a bedroom wanker, have had both tube amps (5150/DSL) and modeling amps (L6) and am about to sell my DSL for a Vetta II. They make more sense for my applications and you get a lot of great tones at all volume levels. I know your living at home and do a lot of PC recording Biu, I think the L6 or vox products would be a great fit.

Re: Should I go with Line 6?

Thanks guys! Time to save up for the HD147, and if I'm really crazy, I'll try to save up for a Vetta II.

TattooedCarrot and InstituteOfNoise, does the HD147 cover 80's metal to modern metal well? How about for solo work? I need to have a REALLY REALLY good solo sound (Sustain-rich, think 5150) and a great, crushing rhythm sound (Higher-gain Megadeth style). I play: Dio, Megadeth, Van Halen, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. So if I got the HD147, am I covered?

The HD-147 will cover HG VERY well.

Re: Should I go with Line 6?

If you want proof of what it can do, there are plenty of guys on my LIne 6 site with links to music. http://www.instititeofnoise.com and head to the FORUM section.

One buddy Dave who goes by xopeth, plays in a couple of serious industrial metal bands and he's using a Vetta II. The only one I can think of now is The Thrill Kill Cult out of NYC. Another is a band called JadedFaith.com using the Vetta. Another heavy band on the site called Prod uses the 147. Look for NateFromProd as the poster.

I don't look at it as high gain or not, but more of... If you like to tweak sound and effects and all the HD147 is the way to go. If you want even more versatility go with the Vetta II for all the bells and whistles.

Stop on by... You'll get every question you wanted to know about answered.
