  • It's Here It's Here - I found My Dream Strings

Man I have tried every string you can think of other than a tampon string (hmmm idea?) and at last I found my dream strings. Elixir 10-46 electrics. The polyweb coating is heavenly and the tone is godly. Yes I am happy ****** now someone hug me.... no not butnut... someone else :fing25:

hehe, you want tough love eh? OK, I've used Ernie Balls forever, just tried those Fender Super Bullets which just break like crazy :fing25: ...so tell me, whats so special about these...do they last long? I hate changing strings...I'd be happy if they last a few weeks. Thanks

Strong lovin? like my hairy ass eh? lmao. BTW I am married so let's not start any forum romurs hehe. Ok on to business.

I have had a set on my aciustic for 3 months which I play about 10 hours a week in the studio and they are still as crisp as the day I put them on. I just started using the electrics so I can't really vouch for the life span, however the tone is killer and the coating (which I think makes them last so long) is true smooth bliss.

hehe, don't worry, I'm married 27 years this year and yes, lets not start any rumors. I'll have to check those out then, even if they cost twice as much as EB's, if they last and sound good, I'll be happy. Thanks.

Ok you two guys don't fool us with all this denial stuff we know that you flutter your eyelashes at each other regularly Back to business so to speak .....

I can't say that I got on with Elixir's at all. A little while ago I was given a few to try out and I found that they actually broke on me, something that I have never done for years whilst using Ernie Balls. I ended up giving the Elixir's away because of the frustration that I got. I had heard that they were cheap and long lasting but maybe I had a bad experience with the ones that I got??

Norm, did you get the NanoWeb or PolyWeb strings? Looks to be around 10 bucks or more per set...kinda spendy, they better last. I'm still searching to see who has a good deal on 'em.

I've also tried the Elixir strings on my Electrics and on my Acoustic.

I can't say as I like the electric strings at all, but I love the acoustic strings!

They're very bright and 'zingy' sounding originally, but I find that the sound improves the more you play the guitar.

As for electric strings, I use 10-46 Dean Markleys

                Butnut,

I cannot remember what they were to be honest but I think it may have been the Nanowebs that I got. As I was doing a show a while back I got some 10- 12 sets given to me by the rep but as I say they just did not do it for me and I gave them away. Perhaps I should have kept them and given them to some folk here? Next time I may just do that.

I tend to go through so many sets of strings in a year that I usually have at least 25-30 sets always at hand.

I tried some Elixir Elctrics and just didn't get on with them, went back to my old friend Ernie I allways do. I found them a bit 'slippy' when bending notes Still worth a try and they were less noisy as you move your hand up & down the neck.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I have Elixir on my Baby Taylor, they came stock on the guitar when I bought it new 4 years ago. Let me tell you they get better with age, those very same strings are still on there and they are not coming off until I break one.

For electric I prefer BALLS, I mean ERNIE BALLS. I`m ****in' married to so don`t start ****! :fing25:

i got a set of stainless steel flatwounds for electric, and they have damn near lasted 2 months. This is comming from a guy who changed every 2 weeks at the longest with diadarrios. These strings just get smoother and better as their played. And i havent broken one yet either(but i neverbreak strings). They are3 by far the best ive ever played. Oh and i too moved to elixers for acoustic, i had som EB earthwoods but i didnt like em too much.
Gypsy, give me your tears. If you will not give them to me, I will take them from you.

I use Dean Markley 0.11-0.52 and they last a long time. Around 1 month with almost no loss of tone. I used to use D'Addario and they sounded really good at the first days but they lost this sound very very quickly. Dean Markley last longer for me.
