  • Question: wiring balanced to unbalanced cables

I'm hooking up a processor to a guitar amp, and the processor (Lexicon MPX 1) has the standard 1/4" phone tip-ring-sleeve balanced outputs. I want to wire this to a standard 1/4" plug (2 conductor). Here's the question: Do I short the ring contact to ground (shorting the negative side of the balanced signal to ground) or do I leave the ring contact floating (no connection)? There's no need to convert impedances, so I don't need a converter box. Thanks!
