    Hey guys..

Can you recommend me a good drum(and preferrably bass machine)
i was looking at the Boss Dr 670 and i looks quiet promising, its got bass too which is a plus, but do any of you know of any other similar drum machines that would compete with the boss..

Also i was looking at stuff to record from guitar input straight into my fostex, and i was looking at something along the lines of the line6 pod or V-amp so i dont have to mic amp for late night recording sessions...

and suggestions for reasonable priced(0-150) headphones would help too.

    cheers

What kind of drum sounds are you looking for? Techno? D&B? Rock? Do you want old skool samples or realistic samples?

Realistic Rock....although if such a unit existed with all of those that would be interesting.. but im looking for realistic rock samples..

Also slightly off the subject but could someone enlighten me as to the difference of the Line6 podXt adn the pod xtpro, is the difference only that the pro is rackmount and has XLR outs and such?

      Thanks alot..

A lot of people like the Alesis SR-16 for that, although there are a ton of worthless reverb'ed drum samples in the unit (unless you REALLY like 80's rock ). Personally, I'd look for a used Roland R8 mkII.

          Hmm interesting...

the alesis seems quiet cheap too but the boss seems like it can do much more...

Try the Korg Pandora PX4 which has a variety of rhythm and bass patterns. It comes programmed with 40 different rhythm patterns covering styles like rock, jazz, funk, blues and dance music. You can specify the key you want to play in and the chords you want to play over and the PX4 will lay down a pro-sounding bass line along with the rhythm backing so you can practice in any style. You can also use the effect programs while you practice, making the PX4 excellent for practicing riffs, creating solos and sharpening your chops. The PX4 also lets you chain up to eight different rhythm patterns together.

It has a Phrase Trainer makes learning new licks easy and you can record up to 32 seconds of sound from a CD/MD player and play it back as a loop. The speed can also be slowed down without affecting the pitch of the original material, making it easy to learn difficult or very rapid phrases.

I think the cost is somewhere in the region of about £135. Here's the link to their site:

On the subject of headphones try the AKG 240 Studio probably get them around the (£70-£90) range.

I've had an SR-16 since the early 90's. Noone's made a better one yet.

I've heard good things about the V-amp, the Pod XT and the Pod XT pro. I have a Line6 Flextone with XLR outs that seems to work great. The Pods are little brothers to the Flextone, with basically the same setup even though I think the Pods are more suited to recording due to size and enhanced tweakability.

I think the Pod XT Pro is the rackmount version of the Pod XT, but it must have some added features that I don't know about since it costs more. The Pod XT is the little kidney bean affair. If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll find out soon. You can check the Line6 site, however.

Create, record and perform with guitar in new ways.

As for drums, I'm interested in what people say also.

I got a boss DR-770 which is the top of the line model.
I got absolutely NO IDEA how to operate it, aside from circling through preset patterns... I never use it much.
It has unlimited memory though and TONS of sounds with variable sensitivity for every sound

I've got a boss DR-660. It's great...but no preprogrammed bass. It has silly slapbass and bass synth sounds, though...not very useful for bass, overall.

well it doesn't matter if theres no pre-programmed bass or drums, really,

so your saying the bass sounds aren't that good? or just the slap bass and synth are bad?

the korg pandora pc-4 looking inteesting and may come in handy but because i have a fostex vf-16 now i dont think recording is an issue so i think i may opt for the drum machine, and possibly the boss dr-660...the korg px-4 and pxr-4 look cool and would be useful for portability but they use smart cards with store little amounts of time so i might be better with the drum machine and my fostex..

                          cheers tho guys...

but any more suggestions would be great..

I've got a Boss DR 3 (msrp 225) that I run through a Fender Acoustasonic JR amp. It sounds very cool, has many presets and never gets drunk.
