      Is that really a '54? It has the bridge of a '56. i may be wrong, but i think the '54 has a wrap-over bridge.

          All sorts of steals on Ebay, just replied to some kid who scored a classic for a solid grand. It kind of makes me sad that I'm broke... Life goes on!

            Did Les Paul really say that was his favorite model?

            I don't think I've ever seen him play a Custom

            and, I agree about the wrap around bridge

              I've seen Les Paul with a Black Beauty once before on some old video footage.

              It was on a commercial for a Time/Life 50's music collection, actually.

                    I thought he used some sort of arch top which has a pine core inserted into it? Called the log or something?

                      "The Log" was the first playable solid-body electric he built. I doubt he played it after the LP came out.

                          Here is a link to a 54 with a wrapover.

                          I looked up a few 54 black beauties. they do have the regular tunomatic. My bad.
