Re: Thinking of selling my Budda....

Did you ever try pulling 2 of the power tubes out, and using your 8 ohm output into the cab's 16 ohm input? That's one way to bring it down to a 50W level.

Or, get a THD Hotplate that's the same ohm rating as your cabinet.

The nice thing about boutique amps is that they sell fairly quickly, so maybe check out some one's you've heard about, then cash out the Budda as soon as you've got your heart set on one.

Yah, ive done that. It changes the sound a bit, but it does help. But IMO a head and cab HAVE to be a certain level to really work. And the amps speakers project so well at these levels that its kinda nuts, unlike with say...greenbacks. But with low powered speakers it just doest sound the same.....

I wonder if you could have Budda install a halfpower switch on the amp?

Other amps worth checking out are Top Hat Emplexador 50, Ecstasy & Shiva,
Budda SD30 head, Dr. Z heads, ENGL, or maybe look into that new company, Mako.

            All good suggestions.

Honestly, the Bogners, TopHat Emplexador (pretty awesome amp, but may not have the type of distortion you want on tap), and Budda amps are all great choices.

Or get a naturalsounding big fat overdrive in front of it.
Something that sounds like your amp.
Well once I had a metalpanel 100 watt marshall head at home, I used a Palmer speaker sim, and used my stereo as final link.
And had a big fat marshall sound at livingroom levels.
But that is the noncheap solution.
