  • NPD kind of....

My best friend's birthday is Friday. Like me he is a huge Page fan so I picked him up a BOSS Super Overdrive, Jimmy's choice of dirt stomp. I feel since I am a great friend buying him the pedal I should feel free to play the thing for a week.

If I like it I will grab one for myself. For $49 the thing is priced nice.

I tried one and it played funny with the bass when dialing the tone knob, and had almost no saturation even with gain dimed and humbuckers.
Couldn't get it right, it belonged to a friend who bought it used. Maybe somebody tried to mod it.

Yeah. An sd1 with no gain is messed up.

I had an old one I sold to someone here about 12 years ago. I used it for many years as a goose for leads. I preferred it with my Strats vs. my Gibsons. It added I n frequencies I felt the strats lacked and muddied them up on the Gibsons.

The new ones don't sound the same though. They are harsher and muddy no matter what. I would grab an old or modded one if I had the desire for another. I sure love the look and ruggedness of those old Boss pedals. I stomped the crap out of all my old Boss pedals BITD.
