  • Something to Tighten

Have a Mesa MkIII blue stripe (no GEQ). Tons of gain. Was wondering if you guys had a recommendation on a pedal to tighten this thing up a bit. Sounds great and I don't feel the need for any more gain. Just something to tighten it up. I was leaning towards a tubescreamer but this amp has tons of mids already. I'm thinking that's not the solution. I'm open to ideas. Thanks guys!

An eq pedal in front of the amp should do it.

+1 Or maybe even a compressor in front.

I would look at the Bogner Harlow; that is what I use in front of my Trem O Verb.

Duncan makes a tubescreamer style overdrive pedal that has a three band eq onboard. You can pop that in front and scoop the mids out if you're worried about being too muddy.
