  • Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

But I've wanted one of these forever, so it's worth it. Plus, I've been feeling crappy lately, so how better to feel better than to buy something awesome?

It's in perfect functional condition and 9/10 cosmetic condition. I'm so happy. It will look amazing paired with my reverb unit.

Congrats!!!! AWESOME! Ive even forgotten about those.. now you got me wanting one.. They expensive?
Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

        Yes, they're pretty damn expensive.

This one has a new tape installed, but no extras. I need to get some.

Sweet. What kind of maintenance is required?

At the moment? I don't think any. In general, I know you need to keep the recording heads clean and keep good tape in the unit. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I don't know much about real tape units - like I said, it was an impulse buy.

I was actually going to spend around two grand on a Les Paul of some sort, but this seemed a more sensible purchase in most every way.

Congrats! Gear like that is both an awesome tool and an investment. You'll get your money back on that, if you take care of it.

From memory they're standard quarter inch [1/4] tape. Easy to make your own replacements. It's basically a tape loop.

Now you have to get the Boss pedal and do a video comparison.

                          That is beyond fantastic. Congrats.

I think Tony Krank does replacement tapes for the space echo along with the EP.

a la Brian Setzer who has one of my favorite sounds (especially w/ the Stray Cats) with this unit, a Bassman, and a Gretsch!
                              Nice find!
