    1. It needs to be in the loop, as this will ofer the clearest sound with using he built in OD of the amp.

    2. It needs to be on the board because I am not using a midi controller to operate it, but the actual pedal itself. I'm not using a midi/remote controller because I am blind and can not program the setup and am going to use a delay that is less complicated but can handle a +4 loop well.

    3. My pedals are all TB, I'm sure on that.

    Yup, I'd go with first.

    About your delay:

    1) does it need to be in the loop?
    2) does it need to be on your board?

I've been around those questions a number of times and always end up with everything in front of the amp. Definitely cuts down on extra cable runs to stage front!

Unless you have a vintage style fuzz I'd put it first.

As Dave mentioned, you may already have several buffers in your chain.

Just remember that many pedals have built-in buffers as well.

Common advice I've seen is a buffer at the beginning and end of the pedal chain, with true bypass in between.

    All,

I'll be running 5 or 6 pedals into the front of my amp and then a delay unit in the FX loop, with the delay unit being on my board, so I'll have between 24 and 40 feet of cable going all over. I've got a JHS little black buffer and was wondering should I put it first in the chain or in another location?

    Thoughts?

and yes, I'm using the built in overdrive of the amp with mainly modulation out front and perhaps one other OD/boost pedal out front for fun.
