Hi everybody,
I have been looking for a nice distortion pedal to add to my pedalboard. I currently own a Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic amp, which I boost with a Tube Screamer TST-808. However, this amp is too big to carry to some gigs, and when I play in other amps I miss a distortion pedal that helps me achieve some high gain tones without depending on the amp.
So, I want a versatile distortion pedal for some modern high gain tones, everything from bluesy slight crunch to progressive metal high gain. I have tested many pedals and only two have made a difference to me: the Maxon D&S and the Boss MetalCore.
I don't know which one of those two to choose, or even if there is another with that type of distortion and a similar price with more advantages. Can anyone give me some advice? If you have one of them, can you tell me a little about your experience?
