  • Do I need a Delay Pedal with Expression Control?

I want to add repeats to just the end of the solo.

To be able to do that do I need a delay pedal with expression control or does just a regular delay pedal work for that moment?

That would work, tying the expression input to either mix or repeats/feedback.

However, check out a "ducking" delay. It stays out of the way when you are playing, then ramps up when you stop. The Line 6 Echo Park does it, along with a ton of other cool things. The other option is to just turn the delay on at the end of the solo, I've seen Adam Jones of Tool do that to get the last few notes to keep echoing. You can do that with whatever delay you have now. Something like a Boss Digital Delay has a "Hold" function, it'll just repeat what ever you play while you hold the pedal.
    Oh no.....

    Oh Yeah!

You can turn any delay pedal on at the end of a solo to do that. Or get one that had a 'ducking' feature- you don't hear it while you are playing, but when you stop, the repeats get louder on their own. I do this with an expression pedal, but I tend to do it throughout the solos I play. So I am controlling the volume of the delays and feedback all the time.

            No - you don't.

Any delay will do it with on/off button.

A Ducking feature will do it better.
