  • Echoplex back from Pete

Back from Pete's "refurb" services. It's a beauty. Scored extra tape cartridge and loaded it up with Petes tape. Very pleased with this EP-2.

I highly recommend him if you ever end up with an EP or a space echo or something in need of repair or cleaned up tweaked.

I've got a 2nd one. Probably going to have Pete clean it up and flip it.

Very cool! Part of me wants one so bad, but most of me doesn't want to find my things in garbage bags on the front lawn.

Still in complete adoration mode. I've got a couple of NOS preamp tubes coming in for it today.

That's great. You're inspiring me to ressurect my old Melos unit . The electronics in it died but all the transport works fine. It's a cartdrige tape unit and I have that still too. It's original electronics were based on transistors. I figure I should be able to replace that with an updated chip based circuit. I've thought about doing this for years.I did put new heads in it and I've got the chips, I just need to do it now.

I suspect that recording does not even do that justice. Cool vintage unit is cool.

Dude - do you know what kind of triply $h!t you can do with two of those?!?!?!?!?!?!

My thoughts on the second one are to not change anything internal in terms of caps or resistors. Just get the mechanical part cleaned, demagnetized and working well. I have a fresh tape cartridge and drive belt from Pete. On the first one, Pete replaced any cap that had drifted out of spec as well as the metal e can multi cap.

The 69 has a sound on sound feature which gives me a loop to record. Or as Pete was telling me, "time to leave the stage and go get a beer" loop. So one as a looper? That would be cool.
