MXR Prime Distortion

Picked one up because it was cheap at Guitar Center, new. Basically like a DS1 with added mid-range/less bass sponginess. I liked it quite a bit at first, but starting to strike me as too compressed/focused, even though I am somewhat impressed by it having any dynamic responsiveness at all. Also, like a DS1 needs the tone knob turned down, but also seems to perform best with the distortion as low as you can manage to keep it.

For cheap distortion tones, still not much beats picking up a dirt cheap Danelectro Fab to me... Anyone use the Prime?
