  • Need a jazz chorus style pedal

Which one has chorus and vibrato and sounds exactly like the one in a jazz chorus amp?

I'm guessing it's a chorus ensemble pedal but which one?

None of them sound exactly like a Jazz Chorus amp, but the CE-1 is closest. Other than the recent CE-2W, I wouldn't even know what to suggest for those tones. Original CE-1s are rare and command far more than I'd pay for a pedal.

I haven't used the Retro-Sonic chorus, but it's supposed to be an exact clone. And expensive.

Might be easier just to get a JC amp….

          From the Boss wiki:

"The first proper Boss foot pedal effect, the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, was released June, 1976, which was a stand-alone unit of the chorus/vibrato circuit found in the Roland JC-120 amplifier. It was a fairly large, AC-powered unit."

I saw one here for 100 bucks. I made a note to myself to buy it next week. Next week, it was gone.

There's one here, but it's a little more than 100 bucks. But it's a little less than $300 bucks also.

Any pedal should be run in stereo, too, with 2 amps. It is a really great sound.

Ain't there a new Waza Chorus meant to sound like the CE-1?
                      Who took my guitar?

It's hard to beat the chorus sound in a JC! I would have sold my jc-50 a long time ago but man I love the chorus and verb in it. Looks like the CE-2W would be a nice way to get it, but at $200 it's nearly as much as a used smaller JC model amp.

i dont think you could walk past the new waza boss chorus.
Ive got an old ce2 i fattened up with some help from vasshu that sounds pretty great too.
Only downside of the old boss pedals (ce1,2and3) is that they definitely make a difference to your signal when turned off. The new boss waza units have real nice buffering which is important in stereo pedals.

You go to a SD forum and about a chorus pedal without mention of the Catalina SD chorus pedal? SD R&D on their new chorus pedal is amazing and it can get any sound you want with the rate, mix and tone knobs it has. It's simply the best analog chorus I ever heard. Plus it has the dynamics control to boot.
