EHX signal pad for active guitar?

In my setup I have a Jackson dinky with passive SD JB's and an Epiphone Explorer 84 reissue with active EMG 81/85 pickups. I have my settings set for my Jackson since it is my main guitar but I notice when I play the explorer without changing any settings it sounds like it is clipping. I'm guessing that is because the explorer has a higher output. I can get rid of it by rolling down the volume knob but I want to be able to keep it at 10 for consistency. Would the Electro harmonix signal pad pedal be a good idea?
