    Yeah, the 3's replaced the 2's. I don't know if Boss changed the buffer or not. I was fine with the buffer in the TU-2. I bought a 3 when my 2 finally died and the 3 that I got happened to be a lemon. Just bad luck. But I returned it and bought a Polytune instead so I personally have no experience to compare the buffers between the 2's and 3's.

      I bypassed my true switch and buffered my cableshoes....
      But the polarity got jinxed...so now it is an atomic sublevel tone squelch....
      Anyways...
      These things seems be recycling themselves every decade or so...

        I find Boss buffers do change periodically. I've had new Boss pedals and the buffer is fine, late 2000's where the buffer is ****e, and 90's pedals where they are decent. I have found that the best Boss pedals are often the Japanese ones though. It all depends on how they've changed due to cost cutting or part availability or customer feedback.
