Re: octave fuzz suggestions
I have a Homebrew Electronics UFO on my board. It's similar to a Fulltone Ultimate Octave, but it handles humbuckers better without get too tubby. Compared to the Octafuzz, the UFO has a ton more gain and it tracks far faster. I tried a few Octavia clones like the Proctavia and Octafuzz, but ended up going with the UFO due to the faster tracking. My only complaint is that it gets too thick and congested sounding if you try to play chords with the octave switched off. It should go without saying that chords are out of the question with the octave on.

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
ive heard of those but never seen one in the wild. ill have to check it out, i dont need the switchable octave especially if its subtle. i have other fuzz pedals if i want straight fuzz

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
I like the Black Cat Super Fuzz. But, the octave is pretty subtle and it's not switchable. Still think it's a cool fuzz.

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
the tentacle is their octave up and they make a hoof reaper which has the hoof+tone reaper+tentacle. not sure i want the tentacle since id like it to be a fuzz as well as octave but the hoof reaper is on the list if i can find one to try

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
I haven't tried their octave fuzzes, but I'd definitely dive into Earthquaker - they know their stuff (my main fuzz is one of their Tone Reapers)

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
ah nice! thats a great starting place, thanks. i had a proctavia years ago but didnt get along with it, mostly cause i didnt know how to use old school fuzz effects. the fulltone is the one that i was planning on getting but figured id see what other options are available before jumping in

Re: octave fuzz suggestions
I've always been happy with my Voodoo Lab Proctavia. I use it so seldomly that it works for me. I'm a little interested in the Fulltone Octafuzz. Also the Earthquaker Tentacle looks like an interesting way to add the transformer octave up to any Fuzz.
Here's a good comparison I found from TGWIF:
