  • T.C.Helicon Voice Live 3 X

    I have one ,

    ¿

Who's got one here in the forum , how do you use it and where , as in
    • Solo/Duet/Combo
    • Live shows/studio/home recording
    • All the above
    ?

    Negative side :
I've had it about 6 months , on the 91st. day I lost the screen and turn on ,
shipping I ate because it was one day out of the 90 day free return shipping
    policy

    Plus side :
    1. Warranty good for 3 years
    2. LED screen replaced along with
    3. Two caps
    4. From so.Cal. to Las Vegas NV. shipping time to and back including
      repair time = one week

I'm getting on track to perform again on a regular basis , the detour is pretty
much over , still kicking at it , during the detour a guitar/harp/keyboard was
at or near my side all the while when it was nutz all around me . Music kept
me sane for several hard years .

Busking , here's how I got into it kinda in a round about way doing a street side
coffee house gig for years .

I did a duet and 4 piece at a coffee house , it was open to the street with a theater
by it and restaurants , tourist traps etcetera all over . It allowed my music to be
heard as the theater emptied after a movie ended as well as the clientele from the
restaurants & shops to passers by as I performed . I drew a good draw always , the gig
lasted me a long while . It helped me establish a reputation in the area , and after
about a year there other venues started to come in from outside the area

I wasn't a solo artist then as I am now . I thought how it would be cool to do this
but at the time those who were playing the coffee house gig wouldn't entertain
the thought of busking , they sort of thought it was beneath them . That thought never
occurred to me . I knew it would work because of how I pulled in street traffic whether
it was a a duet or a combo set .

I've got a DC power bank for the T.C.Helicon VL3X , & the other gear that need it and
working on the supply for my Roland GR33 guitar synth module , it's different , has to
have some AC and a straight DC supply won't cut it .

Where I play is a small tourist area , it's got Indian Casinos , huge golf/tennis resorts but
it's not in a metropolis type city , I'm ready to go to a big outdoor/park/downtown area
and solo with my harps , synth/electric guitar , sing with the above mentioned gear .
My little lithium powered P.A. kicks out enough clean and powerful sounding audio that would
get me arrested in places where sound or volume restrictions are in effect

    Busking solo I will haul ;
    1. electric guitar
    2. dread
    3. 000 resonator
    4. 000 Spanish acoustic electric nylon
    5. harps
    6. power supply
    7. mics
    8. chair
    9. mic & P.A.stands
    Or

The 5 BodyRez presets on the T.C.H VL3X with it's use of added FX dose a good enough job
from the piezo's on my Godin LGXSA's , really a good sound too , this means I won't have to
haul the acoustic guitars & thier cases - man , I , mean to say - I am travelin light as a busker can play .

¿ Anyways fellow guitar slingers what's up with your T.C.Helicon VL3X or any other similar type
    solo set up ?

It started for me with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in 54 on a Blues Harp and progressed , then life .....some death ....Evolving as I went like a small rock in a stream rounding out as I went with the flow as I go through the white waters and waterfalls of life . Life has always been interesting to me

      Aceman :

I was thinking on getting that one . It's a really good
      unit .

After having the GNX4 I wanted a looper as well , I thought of the
T.C.H.Ditto's to add to the Voice GTX - -

      But - -

I was used to the streamline set up I had with that Digitech , that's
      why I got the VL3X . Took a year to commit and I'm glad I waited .
The VL3 was only out when I began my search , I was also reviewing
      the Line 6 JM4 , Boss RC300 as the finalists .

      Jm4 was good , but lacked stuff I wanted . RC300 was a close
second but it's FX for electric guitar were nice but limited .

Over all the GNX4 was the most robust with it's drum machine , it
was as extensive as Roland's better drum machines . FX for the
guitar & vocal were on top of it as well as the amp/cab modeling
and ahead of everyone else back then .

The VL3X's vocals are really good and extensive . Being able to
use a given guitar FX on a vocal is not something unknown to me .
Before I was playing guitar the Ibanez HD1500 was used in ZZTOPS
Manic Machanic , I used it's octaver it had on my harps as well as
the harmonizer , delay , flanger/chorus . I get to do that with the
      VL3X as well

TCH has been a consistent product , I have musician buddy's who
swear by them . After seeing positive results over the years in what
I've seen work on stage work I was open to trying their big flag ship
VL3X . Same thing applies with the Roland GR33 synth for guitar ,
took a while to find a reliable unit for the long haul .

The GR33 is still working with out any issues since I got it 12 years
ago . I hope I get that kind of longevity in the VL3X .

¿ How long have you owned your Voice GTX & how would you rate it's
      guitar & vocal FX ?
