Can you push a tube based preamp pedal into the Powerstage 170 such as an Effectrode Blackbird, Shiftline Twin, Kingsley Maiden etc? Would there be an advantage of putting a preamp between the 170 and your pedals?

Re: Question About Powerstage 170
welcome to the forum!
yes you totally can use a preamp like the blackbird. as far as being advantageous, thats up to you. it will give you other tonal options which is a good thing but will it do something that pedals and the powerstage wont do? hard to say without trying it

Re: Question About Powerstage 170
Here's the TPS video, it's a longer video, but you can skip forward to 40 minutes in to start hearing the PS170. Kingsley Constable/PS170 rig can be heard one minute later
i haven't tried that particular combo yet, but I have played the PS170 with a Twin Tube Classic into a friedman 4x12 and there were some great very 3D and touch sensitive tones on tap there.
I like my clean tone to have some grit, kind of like a princeton on 6 or 7, and I've really liked the tones I've gotten with the PS170 and a killing floor set to about noon with the switch set to boost highs, gives me a similar vibe to the first channel of the twin tubeLast edited by Arwin; 09-28-2017, 04:08 PM.Seymour Duncan Product Support Specialist
